The historical town of West Wickham predates the Norman conquest of 1066 with West Wickham even being mentioned in the doomsday book. The Manor House (Wickham Court) was once owned by the Boleyn family; Anne Boleyn famously being the 2nd wife of King Henry VIII. West Wickham was a small village until the 1900s until the arrival of West Wickham railway station brought expansion and rapid development.

In 1965 the London Borough of Bromley absorbed West Wickham and the town of West Wickham became a suburb of Greater London. Today’s high street is home to several independent stores, exclusive to West Wickham, as well as more well know brands. West Wickham is also home to numerous parks and recreation areas including West Wickham Playing Fields, Wickham Park and West Wickham Common.
